Event & Adventures Winter Fun & Activities

Starting The New Year with New Activities

It might not come as much of a surprise, but studies have shown that the most common New Year’s Resolutions are losing weight and exercising more. These studies have also shown that enjoyment is a key factor in achieving any fitness goal and creating a happier and healthier you. Our clubhouses from Chicago to Vancouver took the time to incorporate new activities into their January calendars so members could start off their 2019 happier and healthier. Here’s a roundup of some of the new activities our club members enjoyed:

Burning Calories and Having Fun

On January 15th, Chicago kicked it into high-gear at a CycleBar class in Kildeer, Illinois. Members cycled their way through a class fueled by an enthusiastic instructor, fun club-like lighting, and energetic music. They were definitely feeling the burn once the class was done, but nothing brings friends closer together than a great workout! Chicago wasn’t alone when it came to featuring high-intensity workouts in January. Our Seattle club had an empowering and fat-blasting afternoon on January 20th at JabX Kickboxing and Fitness. They kicked and jabbed their way through more than 800 calories per member in the workout!

Cold Weather Activities

Three of our clubs embraced the cold weather to help burn away the extra slices of pie eaten this holiday season. Our Vancouver club swept calories away at the Royal City Curling Club in New Westminster on January 13th and enjoyed the benefits of the quirky game of curling. Minneapolis members frolicked through the snow on January 19th as they snowshoed along two miles of trails in Pine City, Minnesota. Members got to learn about winter travel during the fur trade and got to participate in additional activities like throwing a curling stone and playing a round of Ojibwe snow snake. The Denver club enjoyed a winter-inspired activity the same day when they went ice skating at Evergreen Lake!

Dallas gave football a wintery twist during their Flag Freezeball game on January 12th. During their pick up game of flag football, members forgot their winter blues and had a great time! Also embracing another classic activity, Houston gave Throwback Thursday a whole new meaning while roller skating. Houston members managed to get a leg workout in at the Adults Only night, January 17th, at the Dairy Ashford Roller Rink. Reliving roller rink memories with new friends was just a bonus!

Outdoor Adventures

Archery Tag was Phoenix’s activity of choice. They combined a game of tag with the combative skills used in other fun activities like paintball and dodgeball. Add the timeless activity of archery into the mix and this event made January 19th a unique, fun, and unforgettable day for Phoenix members. Speaking of paintball, Santa Clara had a great time enjoying this adrenaline-filled classic on January 12th. This was a great and colorful way to run around with fellow E&A members. Their friends just down the road at the San Francisco club spent January 13th participating in a Scavenger Hunt throughout the boats found at the Sausalito Wooden Boat Tour. This low-impact activity managed to incorporate a leisurely walk into a fun afternoon with friends.

No matter what city you’re in, Events and Adventures will be sure to help you live a happier and healthier 2019 while you make new friends and stronger connections. With over 30 scheduled events every month you can experience so many new activities and exciting things. After all, it’s our mission to help you live a life you love.

Dating When You’re a Busy Professional

Too Busy For Dating?

As a busy professional it can be a challenge to balance work, life and dating. If you’re like most single professionals, you’re too exhausted to plan a social life, so instead you end up binge watching TV or hanging out at the same old meat markets. There never seems to be enough time to plan fun and exciting things to do to help unwind from the busy work week.

Maybe you’ve even given online dating a try but found you were spending more time swiping than actually meeting people. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Many professionals simply don’t have the time to date. But having a successful professional life shouldn’t mean that you are excluded from having a happy social and dating life.

A New Way To Meet People

That’s exactly what brought two vibrant and fun members of Events & Adventures together. Just like many single professionals, Jennifer was finding it hard to squeeze in time to date, let alone find someone that wasn’t wasting her time. After years of feeling frustrated with the dating scene, Jennifer felt as though she might need a little help with her social calendar. Jennifer joined her local Events & Adventures club to open herself up to exciting events and the possibility of meeting new people.

Between fun events like river rafting and murder mystery night Jennifer went to unwind with her Events & Adventures group at a Colorado Rockies baseball game. It was there that she was approached by Justin, a good looking, charming guy who was also a member of Events & Adventures. As the game played on they mingled with friends, celebrated with drinks and got to know each other a little more. That night was a perfect pairing of being around the right people in an exhilarating environment.

Their attraction grew as they continued to meet up at events hosted by Events & Adventures. Without the worry of having to plan fun and exciting things to do, Jennifer and Justin could focus on enjoying each other’s company all while getting to know each other. They soon learned that while they were very similar, they were also different in ways that only helped to deepen their connection. Before long, Jennifer and Justin became inseparable and the inevitable happened; they fell in love. When the butterflies didn’t subside, Justin knew that Jennifer was the woman for him and that he wanted to spend every moment he could with her. Jennifer and Justin are now engaged and you can expect that their Events & Adventures group will be there when they tie the knot.

Let Us Do The Planning

While stories like Jennifer & Justin’s are remarkable, they are not uncommon amongst Events & Adventures members. Events & Adventures brought two people together that might have otherwise remained a missed connection. Countless of singles just like Jennifer and Justin have found each other at their local Events & Adventures group. There’s never any pressure and meeting new people always feels relaxed. With events scheduled every night and planned around your busy schedule, there’s always something fun to do and someone new to meet. If you feel like you’re missing out on meeting fun and like-minded people in your area, Events & Adventures is your social calendar solution.

Curling class with Events & Adventures

Curling Class with Events & Adventures Minneapolis

Warmer Weather in Minneapolis Means….Curling Class?  Curling may seem like the last thing a winter-weary Minnesotan would want to do in spring, our club had a full turnout for Curling 101 at the Chaska Curling Center. Our members were eager to re-don their winter hats and mittens to try their hand at learning this medieval Scottish tradition.

The Chaska Curling Center was more than happy to accommodate us with the necessary equipment to start our curling adventure! First opened in December 2015, the Chaska Curling Center is home to over 1200 members with a six sheet arena, locker rooms, and a player’s lounge.

During our two-hour Learn to Curl class, our members learned curling etiquette, rules, scoring, delivery, and sweeping. Some members showed some real promise at possibly pursuing a new, and unusual, career in sports. At the end of the class, they had the option of obtaining a membership with the Chaska Curling Center and even the opportunity to enter a local league for competition.

When asked about their curling class experience, our members had this to say:

  • “If you’ve ever watched it, don’t understand, but feel like you should because you’re from the land of ice and snow, this is something to check out! Judgement free and highly encouraging. What a fun time.” ~ Lisa Ghylin
  • “I loved it, I expected it to be a little harder but I had a great time.” ~ Jeffrey Mark
  • “Amazing experience with knowledgeable instructors.” ~ Tiffany Osterman

Events & Adventures make it easy to live a life you love by finding new and exciting things for our members to do.  Contact us today to learn more about the curling class and the many other great events we host every month right here in the Twin Cities, not to mention our other clubs around the US and Canada.
